VINTAGE FRENCH SUFFRAGETTE CHAIN 9CT GOLD AMETHYST PEARL PERIDOT
A colourful vintage French chain made up of 9ct gold cable links interspersed with amethyst, peridot and pearl beads and larger spearhead links along its length.
Jewellery displaying the colours green, violet and white were often worn in support of the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) which was at the forefront of the UK suffrage movement in the early 1900s. They adopted these three colours to highlight their key virtues: Violet for Royalty, White for Purity and Green for Hope, and also formed the phrase “Give Women Votes!”
It’s held securely by a ring clasp at the end and displays a colourful assortment of gemstones that contrast and complement each other beautifully.
