ANTIQUE VICTORIAN SUFFRAGETTE NECKLACE CIRCA 1900
This Antique Victorian Silver Suffragette Paste Stone and Pearl necklace is beautiful, Circa 1900.
The necklace is complimented by a mixture of purple and green Paste Stones, with lustrous Pearl nested in-between, which is all original to the necklace.
Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine. Their jewellery was chosen to counter the stereotypes put forward by opponents that they were mannish or shrieking.
Give Women Votes. Green is for give, White is for women and Violet is for votes.
Paste is a heavy, very transparent flint glass that stimulates the fire and brilliance of gemstones, the Romans in particular were very skilful in the production of coloured glass pastes.
Looks fabulous when worn, it would be perfect for a special occasion.
