ANTIQUE VICTORIAN SUFFRAGETTE PENDANT PERIDOT PEARL AMETHYST CIRCA 1900
This fabulous antique Victorian 9ct Gold Suffragette pendant is circa 1900.
Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine, their jewellery popularly consisted of Violet Green and White colours which were chosen to counter the stereotypes put forward by opponents that they were mannish or shrieking!
The wonderful pendant is decorated in creamy Pearls and adorned with a violet Amethyst dropper and a 1.60ct green Peridot in the centre.
Green is for Give, white is for Women and violet is for Votes.
Amethyst has been highly esteemed throughout the ages for its stunning beauty which has adorned regal jewellery all around the world, from ancient Egypt to the British crown jewels.
The Peridot is a stone of lightness and beauty and was believed to be a stone of springtime by ancients who considered it a gift from Mother Nature.
The pendant is all set in Yellow Gold and complete with 9ct hallmark on the reverse.
This is a lovely piece of Suffragette history, a true collectors piece that would look fabulous displayed on a Gold chain.
