ANTIQUE VICTORIAN SUFFRAGETTE BRACELET HEART PADLOCK CIRCA 1900
This fabulous Antique Victorian 9ct Gold suffragette padlock bracelet is Circa 1900.
Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine, their jewellery popularly consisted of Violet Green and White colours which were chosen to counter the stereotypes put forward by opponents that they were mannish or shrieking!
The bracelet is adorned with a rich green Peridot, two violet Amethyst and two creamy Pearls.
Green is for Give, white is for Women and violet is for Votes!
Amethyst has been highly esteemed throughout the ages for its stunning beauty which has adorned regal jewellery all around the world, from ancient Egypt to the British crown jewels.
The Peridot is a stone of lightness and beauty and was believed to be a stone of springtime by ancients who considered it a gift from Mother Nature.
The piece is held together by a lovely Gold heart padlock which is fitted with a safety chain too.
All set in 9ct Yellow Gold and fully hallmarked on the reverse of the padlock.
