ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN FRENCH SILVER SUFFRAGETTE BASKET PENDANT CIRCA 1910
This fabulous French antique Sterling Silver Suffragette basket pendant is Circa 1900.
Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine, their jewellery was chosen to counter the stereotypes put forward by opponents that they were mannish or shrieking!
The pendant depicts a beautiful basket blooming with floral shapes and decorated in pink, green and white Paste stones representing the Suffragette colours.
Paste is a heavy, very transparent flint glass that simulates the fire and brilliance of gemstones. They sparkle just like Diamonds, captivating the allure of natures beauty.
All set in Sterling Silver displaying pristine Edwardian workmanship throughout.
Complete with the French hallmark ‘7’ on the reverse.
A wonderful colourful pendant that would look fabulous displayed on a Silver chain.
