ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN SUFFRAGETTE PINK GREEN PASTE PENDANT AND CHAIN CIRCA 1910
This fabulous antique Edwardian Pendant and chain was made representing the Suffragette movement. The pendant is a wonderful design, with fancy scrolling metalwork and five fancy droppers. It is decorated with Pink and green Paste stones with small Pearls encircling the centre stone.
Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine, their jewellery was chosen to counter the stereotypes put forward by opponents that they were mannish or shrieking!
Paste is a transparent flint glass that simulates the fire and brilliance of gemstones. Pink Pastes have the alluring qualities of pink Sapphires and take expert craftsmanship to capture their beauty.
Both the pendant and chain are fashioned in Silver. It is a spectacular necklace and a wonderful statement piece.
