ANTIQUE 15CT GOLD SUFFRAGETTE PENDANT VICTORIAN CIRCA 1900
This fabulous antique 15ct Yellow Gold Suffragette Pendant is genuine Victorian, Circa 1900.
Emmeline Pankhurst was the leader of the British Suffragette movement in the 19th century and through her efforts won the right for women to vote.
Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine, their jewellery was chosen to counter the stereotypes put forward by opponents that they were mannish or shrieking!
The beautiful pendant is adorned with a central Violet Amethyst, a green Peridot dropper and decorated with lovely Pearls.
Green is for Give, white is for Women and violet is for Votes.
The Peridot is a stone of lightness and beauty and was believed to be a stone of springtime by ancients who considered it a gift from Mother Nature.
Amethyst has been highly esteemed throughout the ages for its stunning beauty and legendary powers to stimulate and soothe the mind and emotions.
Pearls have a wonderful lustre with a rich creamy tone, they are lovely lustrous and natural.
The pendant is all set in Yellow Gold and complete with 15ct hallmark on the reverse.
The pendant was purchased in London and steeped in English history.
Would look lovely displayed on a Gold chain, a great talking piece.
